The One Hour Buffalo Hunt

This buffalo was taken in the first hour of the first day of hunting the Okavango.

Of the above three photos, the top photo shows the crew behind the buffalo, left to right: !Gho, Motsome, and Ernest. They are tracker, skinner, and community escort-guide. "Motsome" is pronounced "mot-soo-me" and means "hunter" in Setswana.

The middle photo shows PH Adam Young on the right, and I am peaking over the top of the buffalo on the left. Ernest snapped this photo.

The bottom photo shows me with the 42" buffalo, and the Ruger 416 Rigby.

In the above three photos: Adam Young (all six feet six inches of him) with another client's ivory, in the skinning shed. Below that is the puff adder we almost ran over. A pack of African wild dogs (getting rare outside of the Okavango) is next. Adam was reduced to game viewing duties with me after we spent a total hunting time of three hours to bag a cape buffalo and red lechwe in the first two days of my five day stay in Kaporota Camp. I am sure he would rather be hunting elephant, but he took care of me in a professional and faultless fashion. He has my recommendation for anyone hunting in Botswana.

I haven't even looked at half of the wildlife and landscape shots yet. More to come someday too I hope.
